>Can I make changes to one of Classics Builders house plans?

Of course!   Our standard range of house plans have been developed in conjunction with customers and are popular.  However, you are free to amend any of our plans, or we can design you a new home from scratch in order to suit your individual needs.  Just talk to us about what you would like.   We are here to help you.  Visit us at one of our show homes, or complete our contact form to get in touch today.

>How long will it take to build my home?

Once we have worked with you in designing your home, we will submit all the necessary documents to council and handle the consent process.  Once your permit is issued we will have a hand-over meeting and introduce you to your Construction Manager. At your first site meeting you'll receive a build programme outlining key dates for your build.  Our standard build time is 14 to 16 weeks however, this can vary based on the complexity of the site and size of your home.   Here’s more information about our exciting Create, Colour, Build and Live building process

>What is a licenced building practioner?

The purpose of licencing people in the building industry is to ensure that those who are responsible for the work being done in building your home are competent and accountable, so that homes and buildings are designed and built right the first time. All our required staff and sub-contractors are licenced and are more than happy to show you examples of their work, or credentials if you would like. Just ask.

>Why doesn’t Classic Builders belong to Registered Master Builders or Certified Builders?

We belonged to the Master Builders Association many years ago. There is a cost in belonging to the Association, that inevitably is passed on to customers.   We believed these costs weren’t warranted, and decided to introduce what we believe to be a more comprehensive 10-year Structural Warranty that includes a one-year maintenance period, and two-year defect period. Protecting what is probably your biggest asset, and saving you additional costs.

>Will you quote on a home plan/design that I already have, or do I have to use one of Classics Builders?

We welcome the opportunity to work with you on a plan or design that you may already have.  After all it's your new home, and we want to ensure it meets your needs. >Will I have to look after the building consent process?

No, part of the ease of building with Classic Builders is that we take care of that process for you. The consenting process (and possible resource consent if required) is onerous, and requires the completion of detailed forms and drawings.  We have been building homes for almost 20 years, and working with councils throughout the country.   Our experienced staff liaise directly with council as we have preferential treatment for the fast tracking of building permits.

>What difference does Classic Care make to me?

Classic Care is about focusing on your satisfaction. We want to ensure that our people, our suppliers and our services are meeting your needs. Building a home is a major undertaking, and is the biggest investment you may ever make. We understand that, and want to ensure we exceed your expectations.  

We believe we are the only building company in New Zealand to operate such a comprehensive customer care programme.  It’s this service that saw us awarded NZ’s best large builder for customer satisfaction, level of service and likelihood of referral in the BRANZ New House Owners Satisfaction Survey in 2013 and 2014.

>What is included in your standard specifications, and will I need to make changes?

We have a range of specifications including standard, premium and executive.   The specification you choose will be about your needs, wants and budget. These specifications aren’t fixed. You may choose product from all three specifications if you wish. As part of the Create process your Building Consultant will run through the specifications you require, modifying and changing to suit you.

>Do you guarantee your homes?

Yes, we provide a 10-year Structural Warranty for every home we build.   Our warranties also include a one year maintenance period, and two years defects cover.   Any applicable supplier/manufacturer warranties and guarantees will be made available on handover.  Our Building Consultants will run you through our warranties and guarantees as part of your building contract.

>Will I have to pay a deposit, and what will my payment structure look like?

During the design phase of your home we may require a deposit to cover draughting costs. However, this amount is taken off the contract price of your home, should you decide to build with Classic Builders.  As we are not a franchise business we are able to offer you flexibility in how your house payments are structured. Your sales consultant will talk with you about the options.
