Cambridge's Old English Village Style Subdivision

Time is running out for those keen to have a slice of the coveted Cambridge Park property pie.

Developer and Cambridge Park project co-ordinator Bruce McGowan says Classic Builders have just six house and land packages remaining with all in a prime locality within the award-winning Cambridge subdivision.

Construction is already under way on most of the six sites. Red brick cladding and 45 degree pitched roofs ensure these homes adhere to the English village, heritage-style architectural theme. All of these homes are located around the heart of Cambridge Park, the “highly desirable” central oval area with its charming, village green aesthetic.

Tal Weizman and Trudi Gower, Building Consultants for Classic Builders, have been watching Cambridge Park thrive over the past few years. “I think the key reason people are flocking to Cambridge is the English village charm and city connectivity this area offers” says Trudi.

Tal also believes the heritage colour scheme is captivating many. “Red brick is not only a natural fit for this neighbourhood, but also a standout architectural feature that brings warmth and coziness.”

The properties still available for purchase comprise two stand-alone houses, and four of duplex design, starting from $769,000. Those available are either two, or three-bedroom homes, all with two bathrooms and double garaging.

Classic Builders confirms the first upcoming completion date for one of the homes is June, so there’s every chance to make a purchase and be in a warm, new home for a good chunk of winter. The other builds are due to be completed in August and September. As many as 50 of the subdivision’s homes have been constructed by Classic Builders.

Cambridge Park was designed by PAUA Architects working alongside Mansergh Graham Landscape Architects. This combination of creative talents resulted in a conscientiously designed subdivision featuring classic Roman grid street layout, a central village green, wide road frontages and tree-lined streets.

Principal Architect Antanas Procuta says Cambridge Park was designed as a community of mixed-density housing, so that grandchildren and grandparents could be in the same neighbourhood, but in different sized houses to suit their respective lifestyle requirements.

It was also designed to be play and pedestrian friendly – a Golden Foot Award for Walkability, given by Living Streets Aotearoa, is testimony that this has been achieved.

“It has been a delight to see the new homeowners make Cambridge Park 'their place’," Mr Procuta says. His enthusiasm is shared by Mr McGowan who says the feedback from residents is “extremely positive.” There’s much that appeals, he says, especially the fact that the subdivision is not a thoroughfare, bringing with it a sense of quietness.

Cambridge Park has done a great job of offering excellent residential opportunities, he says, in a town that is experiencing major growth. Cambridge is expected to grow by 14,000 over the next three decades, with a need for 212 new houses per year, according to a media report released last year.

Those wanting to ensure Cambridge Park is their new address, need to take heed that only limited opportunities remain.
