New Zealand’s Favourite House Plans

Building your dream home starts with drawing up the perfect house plans, and deciding on a layout can be pretty overwhelming! There’s a world of possibilities out there, and while that allows for a lot of creative freedom, so much choice can be paralysing for someone who doesn’t know where to begin.

Sometimes sticking with the status quo can be a good thing – like when choosing a best-selling book to read or watching an award-winning movie. Similarly, there are perks in knowing some of New Zealand’s favourite house plans. These plans have been loved by many Kiwis, and can be a great jumping board for your own home design.

To that end, let’s go through three of New Zealand’s favourite house plans. These are our most popular plans due to their versatility, practicality, and style, and they’re a great place to start.

The Acacia

The Acacia is the smallest floor plan in our repertoire, but that is by no means a bad thing. Ideal for anyone with a smaller or oddly shaped section, the Acacia plan spreads over just 135.4 square metres. In that space, this gorgeous home packs a punch!

With three bedrooms, a great room, and a double garage, this is a cost-efficient plan for building your family’s forever home. The rooms have been fit together with carefully considered precision to provide the best configuration possible on a moderately-sized section.

If you’re the owner of a larger piece of land and you’re looking to subdivide, the Acacia will fit easily onto a modest section with garden space to spare. Alternatively, if you’re a regular holiday-goer looking to build a low-maintenance holiday home, this plan makes a fantastic retreat.

The Cameo

Many of our clients opt for the Cameo plan for its versatility and functionality. A true family home, this plan makes the kitchen the heart of the house, encouraging people to gather together while food is being prepared. The main lounge and dining room join the kitchen to form a beautiful great room, so no matter what the family is doing, everyone can spend the evening together.

House builders in New Zealand are often asked, “How can you create a family home on a smaller section?” Our answer to that is the Cameo. At just over two hundred square metres, this home has space for four well-sized bedrooms, including a luxurious master bedroom with an en suite and walk-in wardrobe. Paradise and seclusion enclosed in the perfect family home.

On top of these myriad benefits, the Cameo features a second lounge space separate from the great room which can be used in many different ways. A fifth bedroom, a game room, or even a home office.

The Elmswood

Finally, our grandest standard plan: the Elmswood. At 422 square metres of floor space, a considerably sized section is needed to build this gorgeous home. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms, three lounge spaces and a quadruple garage offer luxurious living. This is truly the home where you can have it all.

Large families will have no trouble fitting everyone in with room to spare, and the two additional lounge spaces offer an envious level of versatility. Turn them into a children’s gaming room, a study, or even provide guests with extra space by incorporating a sofa bed. Each bedroom has the surface area to be turned into the occupant’s personal haven, and they are distributed throughout the home to provide privacy.

Kiwis have loved the Elmswood for its luxury, free-flowing design, and its space. No matter who you are, you can turn this home into your perfect space.
